Silk Cut lino squares are grey in colour and the most popular style lino square used in schools for printing. Lino printing is one of the simplest forms of hand printmaking.
Sketch your image onto the surface of the lino, then use lino cutters to carve away the areas you do not want to print (this process becomes about a hundred times easier if you warm the lino board in a low oven for a couple of mins first and you'll need to keep doing this through the process oh and don't use the microwave!)The raised areas are then inked with a roller. Next apply a sheet of paper face down onto the inked lino and transfer the ink by rubbing the back of the paper with a roller. This will produce a mirror image of your original sketch.
