Boomerangs have been historically used for hunting , as well as a sport, and entertainment. They are commonly thought of as an Australian icon. In this project, students decorate their own Boomerang which can be used a support activity for learning about Australian History, Aboriginal hunting methods and the celebration of NAIDOC Week. Duration: 1-3 hours Cost per child: Approximately $1.50 to $2.00 (includes materials) Materials: Wooden Boomerangs, markers,( permanent or textas) acrylic paint, permanent pen,cotton filters, cotton buds Method: Children decorate the wooden boomerangs with markers or paint: the decoration can be based on a traditional theme (use dot painting and earth tones) or allow children to draw & colour what they like.
